PAT Testing
(Portable Appliance Testing)
If you provide, manage or use electrical equipment, PAT testing can help you to ensure safety and compliance, and maintain day-to-day reliability. At Crusader Energy, we carry out PAT testing for landlords, businesses and commercial premises using a thorough yet simple approach.
Our testing helps identify damaged or unsafe appliances, reduce electrical risk, and support your wider duty to keep equipment safe for use.

What is PAT Testing and Why is it Necessary
Portable appliance testing (PAT), now referred to as electrical equipment testing (EET), involves the routine inspection of electrical equipment to ensure its safety and compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989.

The process includes visual inspections and specialised electronic tests to identify invisible faults, such as insulation breakdowns and internal wiring degradation.

EET testing is crucial for risk management and ensuring operational continuity, and for adhering to the 1989 regulations and the IET Code of Practice.

Employers are legally responsible for keeping electrical systems in a safe condition.

PAT testing should typically be carried out every 1 to 3 years, depending on the type of device and how it is used.

Extension leads
and other portable items within furnished or part-furnished properties
PAT Testing for Commercial Properties
Portable appliances are used daily by staff, customers and contractors in commercial settings. Offices, retail spaces, workshops, hospitality venues and other workplaces can all benefit from regular inspection and testing as part of a broader electrical safety strategy.
Our PAT testing service helps businesses keep equipment in safe working order, reduce avoidable disruption, and maintain a clear record of testing across the site.
